Course Description
In the AP Art class students will study a wide range of topics that they as an individual artist will choose to explore. The AP Art class is two semesters and is designed to allow students who are wishing to major in art or receive art appreciation credit to explore their artistic abilities and create a portfolio on a concentration of their choice. In this class students investigate all three sections of the AP Portfolio which are Quality, Concentration, and Breadth. The creating of these portfolios is an ongoing process in which students are expected to use critical decision making to develop their artwork. Students are encouraged to push the media in creating dynamic compositions to advance their learning experience and submit in their portfolio. In studio classes students are encouraged to explore and develop their personal interests and ideas in order to develop an individual artistic voice. Students are allowed to explore a variety of concepts and approaches to demonstrate their abilities and versatility with their art making. For more information you can visit the AP site:

Art Gallery Review
Website- http://greenvillemuseum.org/
The Greenville County Museum of Art has an assortment of galleries, full of different artists of different styles. Almost all pieces are paintings or drawings, there are a couple of sculptures, and the artwork of Winifred Rembert is made using leather and dyes. The artwork found in this museum is mostly realistic, some are impressionistic. The two exceptions would be the art of Helen DuPre Moseley and Winifred Rembert, their works are in simpler, abstract, almost cartoonish styles. Most the artwork there is from the 1800s or the 1900s, but there were a couple of paintings of parts of the cities/towns around Greenville or Spartanburg by Andrew Lenaghan that were from the 2000s.
My favorite gallery from this museum was the Andrew Wyeth gallery. I really like his style, it's realistic but not so much that it looks like a photo. His snowy landscape paintings are so peaceful and beautiful, his painting entitled "Bonfire" is dramatic and incredible. I enjoyed some of the pieces from the Alfred Hutty gallery, for some of his work looks somewhat like impressionism, which is an art style I like. His drawings and paintings of buildings were great and full of detail. Some works of his I found a bit boring, but still very well done. The gallery I disliked most was the Helen DuPre Mosely gallery. I usually find things that are slightly creepy interesting, but her work was a whole different kind of messed up. Her paintings were of these fantasy animal-human-creature things that were just disturbing to me. I remember one painting had something in it that resembled a fetus on a plate or something. Her work was very simple, and in my opinion her art was just not good. It looked a bit too childish, and I'm not just saying that because her paintings gave me the creeps. I will say that some of the coloring was nice. Overall, I enjoyed this museum, it had a very nice selection of artwork. It would be nicer if it was larger and had even more art, but it is still a fantastic museum.
Second Blog Post Assignment
My last two pieces are not yet done, i've been working on other art projects and they also slipped my mind, but no worries! They shall be done by the time we are back in your classroom, Mrs. Telleri.
Portrait:
I decided to do a self portrait, a picture of myself i snapped with my iphone that i happened to like. I will probably do some sort of color splash with it once i'm done with the pencil work. Something with the eyes.
I will be using watercolor for this picture. the sketching phase is pretty much done, just gotta paint it. Her hair is the ocean, there will be a night sky with a moon, seeing as the moon controls the tides. I will be starting a different water-themed oil painting soon hopefully, but it most likely won't be done in time for school.
